Another Boring Day ("we", "our", or "us") operates the macOS application of the same name (the "Application") and the website anotherboring.day (the "Website"). We are committed to protecting your privacy. This policy details how we handle your data.
The Application does not collect, store, or share any personal data. It functions anonymously without user accounts or registration. The Website collects anonymous usage statistics, described in section 5.
The Application creates a local folder on your Mac (located in the Application Support directory) to store downloaded wallpapers. This data resides solely on your device and is never transmitted to us or any third party.
The Application communicates with our backend infrastructure to fetch wallpaper metadata. Like most internet services, our servers automatically collect standard log data (such as IP address, request time, and user agent) for security, performance monitoring, and troubleshooting purposes. This data is transient, not linked to any personal identity, and is not used for tracking or analytics.
The Website uses PostHog to understand how it is used. It is not used for advertising, and we do not sell this data.
PostHog counts page views and actions such as opening a painting, playing a soundscape, searching the gallery, and clicking a download link. It runs without cookies: nothing is stored on your device and your screen is not recorded. To count unique visitors, PostHog's servers create a temporary identifier from your IP address and browser details, which changes every day. Your IP address is not stored.
PostHog processes this data in the United States. You can block it with a content blocker without losing any part of the Website.
